In April 2001, the world was still unaware of the unimaginable horror that would unfold on September 11th of that year. The clear, bright morning of that fateful Tuesday in New York City started like any other day – people rushing through the bustling streets, the steady flow of traffic, and the iconic Twin Towers standing tall against the backdrop of the blue sky. Little did anyone know that this day would forever be etched in history as the day tragedy struck. Four coordinated terrorist attacks carried out by the militant group Al-Qaeda resulted in the devastating collapse of the Twin Towers, the destruction of the Pentagon, and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. These acts of senseless violence claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 innocent people, shook the entire world, and forever changed the course of history.
